Thais believe that doves are animals that bring good luck
to those who raise them, especially doves that have qualities
according to texts will endow great wealth and honor upon
the owner. Some say doves are the symbols of purity and
peace.
In the old days, it was popular for Thais to raise zebra
doves. The practice was widespread throughout the lower
southern provinces and neighboring countries. Later a local
dove-cooing contest was organized and expanded into an international
event that it is today.
Activities
:
- Zebra dove cooing contests in the small, medium, large,
and combined voices categories.
- Contests of cow fighting, cockfighting, sheep fighting,
fishing, and cooing of Krong Hua Chuk birds.
- Sales of bird equipment, fine plant offshoots and local
products.
