The ceremony
is a tradition of the people of Phetchabun who revere the
province's sacred Buddha image, Phra Phutthamaha Thamma
Racha.
The image is presently at Wat Trai Phum. Phetchabun people
and those from nearby provinces believe that if seasonal
rain is needed, then the image must be taken on a procession
around the town to the front of Wat Trai Phum and the city
lord (governor) will carry the image and dunk it in all
4 directions in Pa Sak River in front of the temple.
