Origin :
The Loi Krathong Festival is held every November at Sukhothai
Historical Park. The event follows the lifestyle of the
Sukhothai people according to the stone inscriptions from
the Sukhothai period. It has a unique atmosphere amidst
the surroundings of a historical site.
Activities :
- Ceremony to pay homage to Phra Mae Ya and King Ramkhamhaeng
the Great. 
- Thai cultural and musical performances.
- Miss Nopphamat pageant and contests of lanterns, large
and small Krathongs.
- Processions of Miss Nopphamat and Krathongs.
- Fireworks.
- Khan Tok dinner.
- "Sukhothai: The Capital" light and sound show that replicates
events and the atmosphere when King Phra Ruang floated a
Krathong. The finale includes fireworks and floating lanterns
that light up the night sky.
