The Shopping Street Festival
is a cooperative effort between the Tourism Authority of Thailand
(TAT), Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the private
sector in the Ratchaprasong area. A decision was reached to organize
activities to promote shopping in office buildings, department
stores, shopping centers, and hotels on Ratchadamri, Phloen Chit
and Rama I roads from December to January, which coincides with
the Christmas and New Year's holidays.
Activities
:
The conceptual design of lighting decoration for roads and buildings
differs each year. This adds color and fun in shopping and entertainment
that is quite varied and makes the area attractive to both Thais
and foreigners. Moreover, department
stores,
shopping centers and hotels there jointly hold several entertainment
programs like stalls selling products, the Street of Art Fair,
goods and service discounts, gifts for Christmas and New Year's
holidays, special shopping privileges for tourists, room and food
rates at special prices on Christmas and New Year's nights, beer
gardens with music, and the Bangkok Countdown Ratchaprasong Shopping
Streets, etc.
