Rap Bua Festival

Origin :
Bang Phli is a district with an abundance of lotuses. The morning of the 14th full-moon night of October is the day before the end of the Buddhist Lent. Buddhists come here to pick the flowers for offerings to monks according to tradition. The people of Bang Phli regard this as great merit so they volunteer to keep the flowers for distribution to visitors who row to the district to receive them every year.
This is to provide facilitation and is a way to jointly make merit. This tradition has become the "Rap Bua" (lotus receiving) festival.

- Waterborne procession of Luang Pho To (replica) Buddha image.
- Pageants of lady merchants of Bang Phli Floating Market and Miss and Mr. Rap Bua and a lotus pedestal arrangement contest.
- Folk plays such as Saba Thoi and Saba Bon.
- Water sports like races of Mat and ancient boats, boat tug-of-war and sea boxing.
- Contests of boats in the beauty, idea and comical categories.
- Contests of tasty gourami and Thai cooking from various periods in history.
- "Life on the Water Samrong Canal Bang Phli" light and sound show.

- Bang Pu Resort (Bang Phli)
  is a famous resort with beautiful flowers, a restaurant and accommodation.
- Wat Bang Phli Yai (Bang Phli)
  houses Luang Pho To Buddha image, a sacred image that locals take in a boat procession to join in the Rap Bua Festival.
- Ancient City (Muang)
  is the world's largest outdoor museum, situated on an area of over 1.28 million square meters. It has a fine collection of miniature historical sites.
- Samut Prakan Crocodile Farm and Zoo (Muang)
  is the largest crocodile farm in the world. There is crocodile breeding, demonstrations on how to catch crocodiles with bare hands and shows of smart elephants and animals.
- Phra Samut Chedi (Phra Samut Chedi)
  is a pagoda on the bank of the Chao Phraya River. The pagoda houses the ashes of the monks Phra Chaiyawat and Phra Ham Samut. Every year on the 5th crescent-moon night in October there is a ceremony to drape the pagoda in a red cloth.
