Nakhon Ratchasima is a northeastern province that has prospered
since ancient times as evident from the many traces still
available. These include items related to history, artifacts,
historical sites, and good culture and traditions. It is
also the largest province in Thailand and is like the gateway
to the Northeast, a land that is rich in culture and which
has high tourism potential.
To support the tourism industry of Nakhon Ratchasima and
promote, conserve and revive local arts, culture and traditions,
Nakhon Ratchasima Province, the Fine Arts Department and
the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) have organized the
Phimai Festival in the second week of every November.
Activities :
- "Wimaya Nattakan" light and sound show (narration provided
in English, Japanese and French).
- Cultural performances by Thai, local and Cambodian troupes.
- Exhibitions on history, arts and culture, tourism, and
pets.
- Buddhist procession from temples and educational institutions
in Phimai.
- Traditional long boat race championship of Thailand for
a royal trophy in Phimai (on Chakkarat River).
- Bike tour of Thung Samrit Memorial to Phimai Historical
Park.
