King Rama II Memorial Fair

Venue : King Rama II Park, Amphoe Amphawa, Samut Songkhram

Origin :
King Rama II, the second king of the Rattanakosin period, was called "Ek Akkharakhattiyasinlapin," or the Great Artist. He did a great deal of good for the country. In 1968, UNESCO proclaimed him as a World Heritage Person that produced outstanding cultural works.
To honor King Rama II, Samut Songkhram Province, the King Rama II Memorial Park Foundation and TAT organize this fair annually.

Activities :
- Live Khon performance by artists and young artists from the Fine Arts Department.
- Puppet shadow play by local artists.
- Cooking demonstration of main dishes and desserts from Thai literature.
- Contests of Bon plants, color plants and agricultural produce.
- Local products, souvenirs, and gifts for sale.

Nearby Tourist Spots :
- Don Hoi Lot (Muang)
  originated from an accumulation of soil and sand sediment at the mouth of Mae Klong River. It is where countless species of mollusks live, especially the Hoi Lot shells.
- Wat Phet Samut Worawihan or Wat Ban Laem (Muang)
  houses Luang Pho Ban Laem Buddha image.
- Wat Amphawan Chetiyaram (Amphawa)
  is a secondary royal temple. The main hall and artifacts here are mostly from the early Rattanakosin period. The assembly hall is particularly beautiful.
- Wat Charoen Sukharam Worawihan (Bang Khon Thi)
  houses Luang Pho To Buddha image, an image in the Man Wichai posture from the Sukhothai period. A stream flows past the front of the temple. It is full of fish and is called a Fish Park.
- Wat Sattha Tham (Muang)
  has the only pearl-inlaid golden teak assembly hall in Thailand.
- Mae Phra Bangkoet Church (Bang Khon Thi)
  is a beautiful Gothic Christian church and the oldest Christian church in the country.
