To welcome the
new year, Kanchanaburi Province, the Fine Arts Department
and TAT are jointly presenting "Culture of the Two Cities"
at the Prasat Muang Singh (Lion City) Historical Park from
January 19-21, 2001.
In a magnificent cultural and historical presentation, the
legend of Muang Singh, an important 13th century Khmer outpost
of the Khmer empire, is told. Against the spectacular backdrop
of the Prasat Muang Singh temple complex, Culture of the
Two Cities, presented in the form of a light and sound show,
traces the origins of the "Lion City".
During the duration of the event, in various locations around
Kanchanaburi, there will also be cultural shows and performances
of various forms of traditional folk art and culture that
are fast becoming a dying art. For instance folk songs such
as the Flower Garland Song, the Green Leaf Song, the Top-Knot
Song and others. To add to the evening's highlight, a troupe
of 40 performers from the Kim Jang Woo & Seoul Traditional
Art School will also be taking the stage in a grand performance
of Korean cultural art, promoting cultural exchange between
Thailand and Korea. Hence the name of the event - Culture
of the Two Cities.
