Situated in close
proximity to the shores of Kaeng Krachan lake, the Kai Kaeng
military training facility sits in the midst of an area
of great natural beauty, in particular the fields of golden
sunflowers in full bloom during this time.
In a community and public relations campaign, the Kaeng
Krachan Special Combat Training Camp of the First Army Area
of the Royal Thai Army has opened its training facility
and the surrounding area to the general public from now
to January 21, 2001.
To attract visitors to extraordinary attractions in areas
under its jurisdiction, tourism promotion efforts such as
the "Sunflower in Full Bloom" are part of the Royal Thai
Army's public relations campaign to promote tourism-related
activities particularly soft-adventure activities and special
events. These include mountain- biking along scenic routes
featuring verdant forests and areas of natural beauty along
the shores of Kaeng Krachan lake, and demonstrations of
the operations centre in action featuring various military
techniques and skills. Other special activities are designed
to test one's will and strength such as jumping from a 34-foot
tower or jungle trekking by day and by night.
For overnight stays, there is a special camping site for
visitors, complete with tents, by the lake area.
