Pattaya Marathon 2000 July 15 - 16, 2000 Pattaya City, Chon Buri Considered as having one of the most picturesque running routes in South East Asia, Pattaya is the scenic venue of an annual marathon and mini-marathon of different categories that attract world-class runners and locals to participate in this international competition. Candle Festival July 15 - 16, 2000 Thung Si Muang Park, Ubon Ratchathani Khao Phansa, or the Buddhist Lent, is the time when all Buddhist monks must stay in their temples. In Ubon Ratchathani, a unique festival that highlights the talented skills of local artisans as well as displays of religious devotion is held each year. Elaborately carved beeswax candles of various sizes and shapes are exhibited in high-spirited processions around the city before being presented to local temples. Khao Phansa (Buddhist Lent) July 17, 2000 Nationwide This day marks the commencement of the Buddhist Lent or Phansa during which monks must reside inside their temples to study and meditate.
