for innovative contemporary productions and quality dance and
stage performances from Thailand and abroad. The Festival has
been held since 1997 and in each year, it attracts a growing crowd
of dance and theatre enthusiasts.
The independent theatre was founded by Patravadi Mejhudhon, stage
performer, screenwriter, theatre director and producer and an
internationally acclaimed national artist. The pioneering force
on the local art scene, for over 30 years, Patravadi is committed
to developing and promoting the dramatic arts in Thailand.
Through her work, Patravadi has transformed the art of dance into
a respectable profession. She is widely known for creating productions
of great sophistication and for the efforts she undertakes to
encourage fledgling performers to reach for the stars. "One of
the main aims is to give Thai artists a stage so they can go on
and become successful in their own right. And for artists to get
to know one another, to exchange their ideas and knowledge, and
collaborate," Patravadi explains.
